PHONICS: THE POWER OF DISCOVERING SOUNDS AND LETTERS

Did you know everything that is said or written in English is encoded in approximately 44 sounds (phonemes), represented by 26 letters (graphemes) in around 140 letter combinations?

Mastering the relationship between sounds and letters is a foundation skill developed at English Inspired. Children are introduced to sounds and their corresponding letters. They then learn to blend and segment sounds and groups of sounds for reading. Systematically cracking this written code accelerates fluent reading, ease with speaking, and independent and creative writing.

With a strong background in delivering Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) literacy to 3-5 year olds, and the English national curriculum to 5-11 year olds (KS1 and KS2), English Inspired helps bridge gaps, consolidate learning and fast track students to achieve learning goals. We provide English lessons on Wednesdays and after school.

WEDNESDAY ENGLISH PROGRAMME

Two hours

For English speaking families the English Programme is an ideal home away from home programme. This weekly two-hour literacy programme follows the English national curriculum objectives building a solid foundation in all the core skills in English. Creating the feel of the British ‘literacy hour’ close to you, students enjoy the best of both worlds.

If English is a second or additional language, the English objectives are carefully adapted to close the gaps and raise your child's level at the right pace.

For those students already having English lessons in the international school system in Geneva, this is a great alternative or supplement to consolidate core English skills in a small group setting.
