Key stage 2

7 - 11 Years

This UK age group is equivalent to Élémentaire Cycle 2 Cours Élémentaire (CE1), CE2, Cycle 3 Cours Moyen (CM1) and CM2 in France.

In Switzerland it equates to Cycle Élémentaire 4P and Cycle Moyen 5P, 6P and 7P.

High standards of language and literacy equip learners with a strong command of the spoken and written language. Topics drawn from Geography, History and Science as well as literature ensure a fun packed programme of discovery.

Overview

Language and literature skills are developed at greater depth in KS2. A good standard in reading, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation and grammar, spoken language and writing are achieved. Students develop their skills of discussion, debate and writing for a range of purposes.

Reading and Writing 

Learners explore a wide range of texts developing positive attitudes to reading. Participating in collaborative conversations and meaningful debate games, and learning how to persuade and negotiate with an audience. 

 

Equipped with a rich vocabulary bank and an understanding of grammar learners are able to write clearly and accurately, with the ability to adapt their language and style for a range of contexts. Thanks to inspiring speaking and writing challenges, creative writing is readily developed.
